Life in GAZA Today Exhibition
Showing at the Riverside Theatre, Parramatta, (cnr Church and Market Sts) until 28 July 2010.
This collection of paintings by Christian and Muslim children and adult artists who live in Gaza has been brought to Australia by the Major Issues in Theology Foundation, MIAT. The catalogue can be downloaded here
The paintings raise questions such as "What is it like to live under such conditions? What do ordinary people experience? How do they cope and what do they long for?"
The exhibition was opened by Professor Patrick McGorry, Australian of the Year and internationally renowned for his work in the area of youth mental health and Constantine Dabbagh, the Executive Director of the Middle East Council of Churches services in Gaza.
The exhibition was curated through the Gaza YMCA and probes the experience of life in Gaza for young people and in particular the psychosocial impact of living in a place of on-going conflict from which there is no escape.

The Coalition for Justice & Peace in Palestine thanks everyone who supported this event. We offer our deepest condolences to all who are grieving for the loss of friends and family who lost their lives to bring some much-needed relief to the people of Gaza.

Nakba Commemmoration Lecture 2010
Professor George Bisharat, eminent
legal academic, delivered the annual Nakba Commemmoration lecture in the Jubilee Room of the NSW
Parliament on Thursday, 13 May, 2010. Professor
Bisharat also spoke at the Australian Centre for Human Rights
(UNSW), the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (Sydney University),
Macquarie and
Wollongong Universities and in Melbourne and Adelaide. Professor Bisharat was the guest of the Coalition for Justice & Peace in Palestine.
